Birds

ever since we watched this movie, i think birds are evil.  Back in the day those were the best graphics and special effects around.  today it seems a bit primitive but it still worked for Hitchcock.  i didnt think of birds to be so destructive and menacing but i know better now.  i think my favorite scene from this movie was when a bunch of school kids were running away from the attacking birds and a little girl was on the ground face first and a bird was just pecking at her as she was shaking her arms and legs.  Hitchcock always seems to make the simplest thing scary.

American Graffiti

this movie was about some kids just driving around the town looking for something to do before one of the characters has to go to college.  there wasnt really a story line, but more of just a day in the lives of these certain teenagers.  street racing, picking up girls and going to dances was pretty much all they had to do in the movie.  since this movie took place in the early 60's all the music was rock & roll and music that reflected the time period.  even though there wasnt a story line, i didnt think the movie was terrible and worth watching.

Pyscho

i usually don't like scary movie because they're never scary but i was actually nervous when i was watching psycho.  from the beginning i was trying to pin point who the "psycho" of the movie was.  we watched this movie for the music, and i agree that the movie wouldn't have been as scary without the music to go along with the picture. we watched the shower scene first with music then without, and in my mind, the scene with the music was soo much better.  i think this is one of my favorite movies that we have watched this year.

Edward Scissorhands

i used to watch this movie all the time when i was younger so I've grown to over it over the years.  Johnny Depp plays Edward who was made with scissors for hands.  before his creator was about to give him his hands , he dies and Edward was left all alone in this giant house on a hill.  when he gets taken down to the town, where everything is a solid pastel color, he immediately sticks out.  Edward scissor hands is a different kind of Christmas movie but it is one of my favorites.

Network

i wasn't too sure what to expect from this movie from the beginning. i thought the first day we watched it in class it was kind of interesting. but as the movie progressed it just dragged out and i couldn't watch anymore of it. my favorite part of the movie was when Howard Beale dies on camera and everyone thought it was just for the show , so no one helps him.

His Girl Friday

Hilldy, who used to work at the press, was about to get remarried to her fiance. Walter, who is played by Cary Grant,  used to be married to Hilldy did not like the idea of her marrying again.  he does everything in his power to sabatoge the wedding, by reminding her how hard it was going to be to leave the paper.  Walter convinces her to take on one last murder case, she realizes she cant get away from the paper and decides to stay.  the first thing i realized from this movie was Hilldy's awful clothes.  i dont really remember most of the movie, but i found it to be entertaining and i could stand to watch it.

twentieth century

so this movie was about John Barrymore's character  who was a very successful Broadway director working with some wannabe actresses.  he finally finds an actress whose name is Lily Garland to be the lead star of his show.  as time goes on she becomes very famous and decides to leave but John Barrymore's character follows her to the twentieth century train where this huge chase happens.  i didn't really like this movie but i guess John Barrymore's performance was worth the watch
