Run Lola Run
i think the movie stayed true to its name.the movie starts up with these questions about humanity and sets up the whole movie and why they decided to film it the way they did. i actually missed the beging but found out later on in the movie that the same events started to happen again, and again. it was like if someone played the movie over again but decided to change one little thing in the begining and changes the whole ending. i liked how the whole movie was set to heavy techno music. i especially liked the flashfoward about the peoples lives who she only encounters once or three times in the movie. i enjoyed watching the movie because it was a nice change to what we have been watching recently.
Memento
i started to watch this movie a while back and fell asleep after the first 20 min. i dont really know why i never decided to watch it again beacuse its actually very suspenseful and entertaining. i never thought playing a movie in reverse could tell such a compelling story. ill admit i was confused on a lot of things, and found myself asking questions. when i was watching the movie i felt myself thinking this is how lenny must have lived, beacuse every scene felt like something new happened and you dont really understand whats going on but you get it enough to follow the movie. i thought the ending was perfect and made you sort of decide which string of lies you wanted to follow.
some like it hot
i missed basically the whole movie except the begining. from what i saw it was about these two men who were looking for work as musicians and happen to get caught up with the mob and try o escape by becoming female musicians and fleeing to florida. i wasnt here the next two days but i heard the movie was actually very entertaining and cute. i dont thinkk i saw enough to make an honest opinion of this movie but from everyone elses reaction i think i wouldve enjoyed the film.
the general
i think all silent movies should have buster keaton as the star. he makes movies easier to watch and enjoy with his performance. again i didnt think i would laugh as much as i did during a silent film. you dont need words with his acting. but in the end buster gets the girl, and now i know why the women that buster acted with usually never lasted more than one film with him. i really enjoyed this movie and the music was definately better than the penalty.hands down.
Bicycle Theives
the movie is about a young man who is trying to find work to provide for his family after world war 2. the family has to sell their sheets for enough money to buy a bicycle so the father could find a job putting up posters. watching this movie you dont really realize how valuble something like a bike is untill you have no other means of providing for your family. in the beginging i realized that he mouths of the actors didnt match up with the sound frokm the movie. appernetly they did the film and sound seperately. i like the movie even if i got a little bored in the middle of it.
The Penalty
in the beggining, the movie was actually enjoyable even if the music was terrible, but as i was watching i found out quickly that i had no idea what was going on in the movie. i thought it was amazing how the main character had to walk around on his knee caps all day on set. i actually tried to walk the same way but i couldnt do it for nearly as long as he did. i didnt really like the movie though, i thought it was too long and really hard to pay attention to.
East of Eden
James dean played the part of the rebellious son who was looking for affection and acceptance from his father and mother who deserted their family when he was young. i didn't think it was such a bad movie, but i think i was easily swayed by james dean's performance. you could see his mind going in a thousand different directions when he was on camera. it think he made very interesting acting choices but overall i liked the movie.

The Men Who Stare at Goats
i just saw this movie over the weekend and it wasnt too bad. i thought it would be better or at least funnier with george clooney, jeff bridges, ewan mcgregor, and kevin spacy being the stars. i liked the movie alot at first but it seemed to drag on in the middle of it. besides that i thought it was funny and kind of quirky
The Road
i went to a private screening of The Road at garden state with kelly because she told me she read the book and it was amazing. i never read the book but i wanted to watch the movie anyway, viggo mortenson played the father with Kodi Smit-Mcphee playing his son. the movie is set in this post apocalyptic world where all the people were killed but a few. they never tell you how the world ends despite what the commercial tells you. the relationship the father and son had was very heartwarming. the lady sitting next to me in the movie theater had tissues next to her the whole time. i really liked the movie, even though i heard that the book is still better.
Rope
another Hitchcock film about these two schoolmates who want to commit the perfect crime. they killed another one of their schoolmates by strangling him with a rope and put him in a table or some place to put books. even though the whole movie took place from wityhin the apartment i kind of liked it. it was kind of intersting that they didnt really edit the movie by making it all a continuous shot. it seemed like the actors had to be perfect because of the lack of editing. in the end the two men were caught by james stewarts charachter. the two men just wanted to kill david? beacause they were crazy. i liked how at the end the cops were on their way to the apartment and since the two characters new they were going to get caught one plays the piano and the other pours himself a drink as if to say im going to enjoy the last moments i'll have before going to jail.
Freaks
at first i didnt really know what to think of the movie, and im still kind of unsure. it was a little weird to see that the actors in the film were actual freaks so it was kind of a little much to handle. it was about sideshow freaks who you never see on stage. i couldnt really understand what they were saying half the time in the movie, i guess it was the film or the pitch of the sound but alot of it sounded sort of like squeaks or gibberish to me. i wouldnt really say i liked the movie but it did keep my attention throughout the whole thing. the ending confused me after that lady turned into some kind of chicken person which made no sense at all.
Rear Window
This Hitchcock film was about james stewart's character who broke his leg, and since its the 50s theres nothing better to do than to be a peeping tom and spy on your neighbors. i thought it started out kind of slow but i really like the movie overall. i liked how they showed everything from james stewarts point of view, they never zoomed in on anyone elses room to keep the story about the murder they're trying to uncover. after the movie was over i realized how much it had in common with disturbia
The Night They Raided Minsky's
i wasnt here for the nfirst day of this movie so when i started watching it i couldnt really get into it. the only thing i really picked up was the amish girl wanted to dance on stage. from what i did see, i thought the movie was enjoyable. it was cute but after a while the amish girl really got on my nerves by how oblivious she was. other than the oblivious amish girl i liked the movie
Do The Right Thing
spike lee's do the right thing took place in a Brooklyn neighborhood where its seperated by race. throughout the movie there seemed to be a heat wave that passed so everyone was sweating and angry. i dont think the movie wuoldve been so angry if it wasnt so hot, because it seemed to bring out the worst in people. i thought the beggining of the movie was kind of funny untill it took a huge turn in the other direction after the cops killed Radio Raheem. after that situation there was just chaos and anger.
Traffic
the one thing that stands out about the movie is the different filters they used to film different scenes of the movie. the scenes in tijuana were warmer colors like yellows and orange to represent mexico and the heat. the scenes that were tinted blue represented michael douglass's scenes. those scenes were more serious and looked more corprate or professional compared to the scenes with Benicio Del Toro. i liked the movie but it was a little hard to follow if your not watching it straight through.
Robin Hood
Robin Hood was filmed in Technicolor which seemed to give the movie more life. the actor who played robin hood played it with alot of confidence which made the movie easier to watch. the whole movie was vibrant and seemed sort of like a fantasy because of all the colors.
Raging Bull
i kind of enjoyed watching Raging Bull, i like watching it in black and white because it made it seem more realistic without vibrant colors. if it were in color i dont think it wouldve told the story of Jake LaMotta like it was intended to be seen. His story wasnt a very happy one so black and white seemed to work best for the movie.
Tristram Shandy
When the movie first started out i didnt think it would be to bad, it kind of held my intrest at first but i found out pretty quickly that i had no idea what was going on in the movie. As the movie progressed i found myself getting more and more confused. I didnt really like the movie, it was confusing and i couldnt pay attention to most of it

my first blog
The Purple Rose of Cairo
-i thought the beggining of the movie went kind of slow but it picked up really fast. i actually really liked this movie and i even had myself picking sides on who Mia Farrow's character Celcilia should really be with. the ending kind of suprised me but when i think about it, its exactly what wouldve happened in real life. cecelia just found herself caught up in which world she would rather live in..the perfect world of the movies or real life.
Sherlock jr.
-i didnt think i would like a silent movie as much as i enjoyed watching this. i thought it was funny even by some of todays standards. Buster Keatons face always looks as if he has no emotion what so ever. the movie showed alot about how times were back then like how buster and the girl acted when they were together. things were alot more reserved back then.
